Dear fellow members of Clearview Baptist Church,
I, Caleb Elijah Turk, believe with all my heart that it is God’s will for me to continue in Indonesia as a missionary.
God saved my soul when I was 5 years old. I have practically been in the ministry all my life, as my father and grandfather are Baptist preachers as well—my father, Louis A. Turk, being a missionary to Indonesia (as you already know). As far back as I can remember I’ve always enjoyed reading God’s precious words in the Holy Bible. At around the age of 10 I surrendered to preach and delivered my first sermon soon after from Mark chapter 2 about the man sick of the palsy: how Jesus saved him because of his faith in Jesus.
I moved to Indonesia with my parents when I was 19. Since then I’ve learned the language well, married a faithfully godly lady, been blessed by God with 5 precious children, and have had the privilege of working with my father to translate God’s Holy Bible into the Indonesian language (along with my wife, Livia, who tremendously helps to make the translation sound natural and smooth in the Indonesian language).
As with any nation, Indonesia has its problems, but God loves them just as he does the rest of the world. And he’s put a burden on my heart for them—especially for my wife’s parents and siblings. I believe it is God’s will for me to work on the translation until it is finished, while also evangelizing Indonesia (which gets much easier as we have books of the Bible accurately translated).
Please pray God will guide me to sincere people ready to hear the gospel; that God will prepare their hearts and minds, and that God will give me the wisdom to present the gospel well.
Sincerely in Christ,
Caleb E. Turk
